Senior Schedule Pick-Up & Parking Pass Distribution - July 30th

Senior parking pass purchases, payment of outstanding fees, schedule distribution and verification of meningitis immunizations required to enter 12th grade, will take place on Tuesday July 30th from 8AM until 4PM at CCHS. Outstanding school fees will need to be paid prior to being eligible to purchase a parking pass. Please note that  2024-2025 school fees will be collected at the beginning of the new school year. Parking passes will be distributed through a random drawing when passes are purchased, not on a first-come, first-serve basis. Seniors will park in the upper parking lot this school year.

Mrs.Brady will be available during your schedule pick-up to discuss any scheduling questions you may have. The schedule change form will also be available for you to submit schedule change requests, the day you pick up the first draft of your Senior schedule. Please understand that your schedule may change before the first day of school. **You will need to pick up your final schedule on colored paper in the gym the first day of school, to ensure you have an accurate finalized schedule. **

Students who have not had their meningitis vaccination are required to present proof of vaccination to Nurse Holland, also on July 30th. This vaccination is available through appointment at the Carroll County Health Department or your medical provider. This vaccine must be up to date for Senior students to enter school on August 8th.

Please remember that you must have the VA state form completed and signed by a parent or guardian, as well as all outstanding school fees paid, to purchase a parking pass. The form will be available in your school gmail account, on social media or in the front atrium at CCHS to complete before Thursday, July 30th.  If you are 18, you are able to sign and complete the form ONLY if your insurance policy is in your name. If it is in your parent/guardians name they must sign and complete the form for a parking pass to be sold to you. You may access the form here or pick up a paper copy in the lobby at CCHS.

FAFSA Info. 2024-2025

What IS the FAFSA?

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)is the form you need to fill out to get any financial aid from the federal government to help pay for college. Each year, over 13 million students who file the FAFSA get more than $120 billion in grants, work-study, and low-interest loans from the U.S. Department of Education.

Lots of states and colleges also use the FAFSA to determine which students get financial aid—and how much they’ll get.

The FAFSA asks for information about you and your family’s finances, including tax returns, so you’ll need your parents’ help to complete it.

A FAFSA Workshops are available courtesy of WCC. Please check your student gmail accounts or the Senior Google Classroom for additional information!

For students planning to attend college, university or trade-school beginning Fall 2025, the FAFSA will open October 1st, 2024.

Virginia State Aid Info. - VASA

What is VASA?

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) is announcing a brand new process that will enhance college affordability for even more students who call Virginia their home.

For the first time, Virginia students who are ineligible to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), including undocumented students and those with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status, now have a way to access state financial aid due to revisions to the Tuition Equity Provision for High School Completers and the creation of the Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA) Application.

This new state financial aid application is a free and safe way for students to pursue financial assistance for postsecondary education. It supports the statewide strategic plans’ goal of making college access more equitable and affordable for all Virginia students.

Interested students should work with their college admissions and domicile officers to determine whether they meet the Commonwealth’s tuition equity or domicile requirements. Students would then complete the VASA Application so that the institution’s financial aid office can determine eligibility for state need-based aid. The application is now available for students applying or returning to college in the 2022- 2023 financial aid year.

Additional information and the VASA Application can be found at Applying for Virginia State Financial Aid.
