My goal is to open the creative doors for each student through the arts.

To challenge each child to reach their fullest potential.

My desire is to present assignment challenges that will incorporate different learning styles to encourage creative

problem-solving skills.

Biography:

I was born in Portalas, New Mexico.

My family lived in Tucumcari, NM during my youth.

Most of my extended family still lives in New Mexico and Oklahoma,

so I return to visit as often as I can.

My family moved to Blacksburg when I was a teenager,

and I graduated from Blacksburg High School.

After high school, I attended Radford University

where I received a BFA, (Bachelor of Fine Arts degree) in graphic design

and worked as a graphic artist for 11 years.

I then went back to RU and received my teaching certificate.

I began my teaching career at Blacksburg High School,

and I also taught at Christiansburg Primary School for a few years.

While my boys were preschool age I ran a licensed in-home day care.

I then opened up a paint-your-own pottery studio named Earthworks.

At Earthworks I enjoyed teaching pottery painting techniques and holding clay workshops. I owned Earthworks for 11 years.

I taught 8^th and 9^thgrade art at Carroll County Intermediate School

and now I teach at Carroll County High School.

I really love Carroll County and enjoy teaching art for Carroll County Public Schools.
